Join us at 50 Arrow Gallery for a special U.S. performance by Gaon Soloists, a Korean chamber ensemble bringing together musicians with and without disabilities.
Presented by 50 Arrow Gallery and Hashi Pottery Plus, with support from the New England Foundation for the Arts, this gathering honors the work of Stavros Center for Independent Living and the generations of disabled people, advocates, families, and community members who have fought for the right to live with dignity, choice, and independence.
ABOUT GAON SOLOISTS
Gaon Soloists creates music around a simple but powerful idea: individuality is not something to overcome in pursuit of harmony. It is part of what makes harmony possible.
The ensemble brings together musicians with and without disabilities, creating performances shaped by distinctive voices, experiences, and ways of moving through the world. Familiar melodies become intimate and deeply human, inviting audiences to listen differently to both the music and one another.
Cellist Yo-Yo Ma has described performing with the ensemble as an experience that allowed him to feel life “more delicately, intensely, warmly, and sincerely than ever before,” calling his time with Gaon both rare and deeply meaningful.
HONORING STAVROS
This performance is dedicated to Stavros Center for Independent Living and its work alongside people with disabilities throughout Western Massachusetts.
For decades, Stavros has worked to remove barriers that prevent disabled people from fully participating in their communities. That work is rooted in a fundamental principle of the Independent Living Movement: people with disabilities have the right to make decisions about their own lives and to live in the communities they choose.
Bringing Gaon Soloists to 50 Arrow Gallery gives us an opportunity to celebrate that work through music, community, and connection.

The afternoon and evening performances will draw from a program of familiar music spanning Korean traditional songs, film music, folk traditions, and popular favorites.
