White Nine: Where Broken Bodies Go
Join us at 50 Arrow Gallery on October 3 for special screenings of White Nine at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., presented as part of a day honoring Stavros Center for Independent Living.
White Nine tells a story that is deeply connected to the founding of Stavros and to the disability rights movement in Western Massachusetts. It looks back at a time when disabled people were routinely separated from their communities and expected to accept institutions as the only option, and at what happened when people refused.
That refusal helped build something different. A movement rooted in autonomy, access, dignity, and the right to live in the community.
The screenings will take place alongside performances by the Gaon Soloists, bringing film, music, history, and community together for a day centered on the work and legacy of Stavros.
