Administrative Gallery Intern

Founded in 2021, we are a BIPOC-centered gallery space in Easthampton, Massachusetts, dedicated to promoting social equity and inclusion through art. Our 500 square foot gallery is curated with a focus on showcasing work by BIPOC artists, and we aim to provide a platform for artists who may not have had access to traditional gallery spaces.

Assistance is required with the following responsibilities:

Gallery responsibilities:

  • Preparation of artist’s labels and price lists
  • Dismantling exhibitions
  • Organizing new exhibitions
  • Writing artist biographies
  • Interns are encouraged to help with Installations, Gallery Receptions, and Special Events during the course of their Internship
  • Greeting guests and talking to them about the artwork
  • Other duties as assigned

Administrative/Marketing responsibilities:

  • Scanning, photographing, and cataloging of new works
  • Photographing non-flat works
  • Assisting in the creation of informational videos and their post-production
  • Facebook: create monthly schedules, draft posts and select photos, manage daily posts
  • Packing for shipping

Education

  • Fine Art or Art History background/focus
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • General to advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet (Excel) and graphic software (Photoshop)

Time Commitment:

10 hours per week during business hours. We offer flexible schedules to coincide with students’ classes and work schedules. Supervision will be provided on site by the owner who will monitor the intern’s progress and be available for questions and directions as needed.

Pay is $15/hour
